AVI Bistrot, Lowndes London Hotel, Belgravia

Located within the five-star Lowndes London hotel in Belgravia, AVI is a French-American restaurant created through the refurbishment of the existing dining space adjacent to the hotel lobby. The project sought to revitalise an outdated interior and create a contemporary dining experience befitting a luxury London hotel.

Delivered within an accelerated programme of just one week of design and one and a half weeks on site, the project demonstrates how carefully considered interventions can rapidly transform the character of a space with minimal structural intervention.

Inspired by classic French bistro interiors, the design focused on a series of targeted material and lighting upgrades, including new wall finishes, carpeting and bespoke bar detailing. Lighting played a central role in the transformation, with the introduction of warm ambient illumination proving intrinsic to the creation of an inviting contemporary brasserie atmosphere.

Working within the constraints of a live hotel environment required close coordination and careful phasing to minimise disruption to guests and hotel operations.
