AVI Bistrot, Lowndes London Hotel, Belgravia

Located within the five-star Lowndes London hotel inBelgravia, AVI is a French-American restaurant created through therefurbishment of the existing dining space adjacent to the hotel lobby. Theproject sought to revitalise an outdated interior and create a contemporarydining experience befitting a luxury London hotel.

Delivered within an accelerated programme of just one weekof design and one and a half weeks on site, the project demonstrates howcarefully considered interventions can rapidly transform the character of aspace with minimal structural intervention.

Inspired by classic French bistro interiors, the designfocused on a series of targeted material and lighting upgrades, including newwall finishes, carpeting and bespoke bar detailing. Lighting played a centralrole in the transformation, with the introduction of warm ambient illuminationproving intrinsic to the creation of an inviting contemporary brasserieatmosphere.

Working within the constraints of a live hotel environmentrequired close coordination and careful phasing to minimise disruption toguests and hotel operations.
