Three Sixty Gym, Walton-on-Thames

Three Sixty Gym is a state-of-the-art Martial Arts Academy in Walton-On-Thames. This project required balancing the needs of the gym with the preservation requirements of a Grade II listed building.

With a footprint of 2,650 square feet, our design integrated the building’s original architectural features. Exposed beams had to be designed around, in order to install sound insulation, while ensuring no damage was done to the structure or historic features of the building.

Its prominent position in the centre of Walton-on-Thames meant that the facade and signage of the building needed to retain original characteristics. We worked closely with Elmbridge Borough Council to ensure the plans were in line with the surrounding streetscape, incorporating approved colour palettes and preserving defining architectural features. Fire exit routes required extensive coordination, including consultation with neighbouring units, additional surveys and layout revisions to ensure full compliance with building regulations. These adjustments were carefully integrated into the layout, to suit the needs of the space for martial arts training.

Within the gym itself, we fitted multi-functional training zones to accommodate a variety of martial arts disciplines. We designed custom lighting, ventilation and soundproofing systems to enhance training conditions while ensuring minimal impact on the building’s historic fabric and surroundings.

Three Sixty Gym stands as a unique blend of historical architecture and functional design. It showcases our ability to intelligently execute state-of-the art spaces within historic buildings, and honour the needs of both. The project exemplifies how heritage sites can be creatively repurposed for contemporary uses while preserving their cultural significance.
