Yazu Sushi, Mayfair

Situated within the lively Shepherd Market district of Mayfair, Yazu Sushi is a much-loved kaiten-style restaurant that has long been a favourite among local residents and visitors alike. This project reimagined the existing 270 sq ft space through a thoughtful refurbishment that enhances the guest experience while preserving the intimate character that defines the restaurant.

Working within a highly constrained footprint and an accelerated construction programme, the renovation focused on a series of targeted interventions designed to maximise impact and value. The existing kaiten conveyor belt system was retained as the centrepiece of the restaurant, with the surrounding interior reconfigured through the introduction of a bespoke countertop and a carefully considered upgrade to the finishes and furnishings.

The project demonstrates how strategic design interventions can successfully transform a compact hospitality space with minimal disruption. The client's ambition was to refresh the restaurant while preserving the intimate and familiar atmosphere that defines Yazu and has earned it a loyal following. The renovation successfully delivers on that promise.
